The International News Media Association (INMA)’s World Congress took over New York for a week May 19-23, 2025. Jodie Hopperton, Congress co-moderator and head of INMA’s Product & Tech Initiative, couldn’t get enough — and pulled her colleagues into the studio to capture insights straight from the stage.

Joining her are:

  • Gabriel Dorosz, launching INMA’s revamped Advertising Initiative Amalie Nash, who leads INMA’s Newsroom Transformation Initiative
  • Grzegorz Piechota, INMA’s researcher-in-residence and lead for the Readers First Initiative
  • Sonali Verma, lead for the INMA Generative AI Initiative
  • Robert Whitehead, lead of the Digital Platform Initiative, focused on Big Tech regulation and its impact on media

The importance of strong, unique journalism in media’s business model has leapt to the top of the agenda to counter the biggest upheavals in a century. The collapse of social and search referrals, the attacks on media by key governments and tech companies, and the tsunami of AI-generated content. The new focus on the overall brand experience (great journalism, great formats, great positioning, and great awareness) to drive audiences directly to your own platforms
