Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, has warned users that conversations with ChatGPT are not entirely confidential.
While strict confidentiality standards exist for professional relationships, this does not extend to interactions with AI tools, leaving users vulnerable if their chats become the subject of a lawsuit or investigation.
While today it is ChatGPT, it is best to stay vigilant across all AI tools because AI-development is currently in its nascent stage. As a first step, users must avoid sharing personal details, legal concerns, financial data, or anything that could create a risk. OpenAI itself has acknowledged this gap and is advocating for stronger protections, but, for now, conversations with AI do not enjoy the same safeguards as those with human professionals.
